Vehicles are the source of millions of tonnes of pollutants released into the atmosphere each year, making a significant contribution to climate change.
The “ecoDriver Manitoba” program is designed to affect and enable behaviour change in Manitobans so that particulate and Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions from vehicles are reduced.
This program will help fill a gap by building upon Manitoba’s existing sustainable and green transportation initiatives. The overall goal of the program is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through a variety of social marketing, education and outreach activities reaching the Manitoba driving public and soon-to-be drivers. Motorists can learn ways to improve their fuel consumption, save money, and at the same time reduce their impact on the environment. The three major program components are:
- Public education and outreach
- Vehicle maintenance clinics and workshops
- Data gathering relative to driving habits
The ecoDriver Manitoba program - a joint initiative funded by the Province of Manitoba and Natural Resources Canada - is coordinated by Green Manitoba and supported by participating partners.
