Through the Home Appliance Retirement Program (HARP), Winnipeggers can permanently retire their unwanted satellite dishes in a convenient and environmentally safe manner by simply calling the HARP Hotline at 257-1212.

 

Satellite Dishes can also be brought to a scrap metal dealer for recycling. Check the Yellow Pages under "Scrap Metals".

 

Sawdust

Double bag and put it out for regular garbage collection.

Sealant

Homeowners can take sealants to Miller Environmental Corporation for free disposal.

Shingles (Asphalt)

Asphalt roof shingles are accepted at Greensite Recycling to be processed into asphalt paving applications.

Shredded Paper

Shredded paper can be recycled through the city's Blue box recycling program.

Small Appliances

Small appliances can be brought to “Urbanmine” at 410 Madison Street (near Polo Park).  Please contact them at 204-774-0192 for additional information.

 

Smoke Detector

Remove and recycle the batteries. The rest can be put out for regular garbage collection.

 

Sod

Take sod to the Brady Road landfill for disposal. There is a small fee per vehicle.

 

Solvents

Solvents are considered as hazardous waste and proper disposal is required.

Sports Equipment

Donate your unwanted or used sports equipment to Sport Manitoba. Please contact Sport Manitoba at (204) 926-8351 for additional information.

 

Donations of equipment can also be dropped off at the following Winnipeg locations:

Stoves

Through the Home Appliance Retirement Program (HARP), Winnipeggers can permanently retire their unwanted, energy inefficient home appliances in a convenient and environmentally safe manner by simply calling the HARP Hotline at 257-1212. 

 

Any major appliance – washers, dryers, fridges, stoves, even water heaters – qualifies for free pickup within Winnipeg. Once arrangements have been made, a representative of the Kidney Foundation will pick up the appliance and safely recycle it free of charge.

 

Swimming Pool Chemicals

Homeowners can take their pool chemicals to Miller Environmental Corporation for free disposal.
