Packing Material

Paints & Solvents

Leftover paint should never be disposed of down the drain.

 

Latex paints can be placed out for regular garbage collection if the lids are off the paint containers and the paint is dry and hard.

Paint Cans

Check the Yellow Pages for scrap metal dealers who accept dry empty metal paint cans. Also, please contact Western Scrap Metals Inc. at 204-947-0251 for additional information.

Paint Thinner

Paint thinner is considered as hazardous waste and proper disposal is required. Please contact Miller Environmental Corporation at 204-925-9600 for additional information.

 

 

Pallets

Please check the Yellow Pages for pallet recyclers who accept old pallets. Please contact St. Boniface Pallet Company at Ph: 204-233-0383 for additional information.

 

Pallet jacks

Used pallet jacks will be accepted by Winnipeg Harvest for reuse.

 

Patio blocks

Patio blocks are accepted at Rocky Road Recycling for recycling. Please contact Rocky Road Recycling at 204-832-7802 for additional information.

 

Pet Feces

Please bag and dispose with regular garbage.

 

Phone Books

Phone books can be recycled through the city's Blue box recycling program.

To donate used picnic tables contact the Zoological Society of Manitoba at 204-982-0664 or drop your donations off at the Zoo Gift Shop during regular business hours, seven days a week.

All the different types of plastics (PET, HDPE, LDPE, PP etc.) can be recycled using the Manitoba Recycling Directory or the recycled plastic markets database.

 

Plastic Bags

Safeway accepts plastic bags for recycling at retail locations.

 

In addition, Winnipeg Harvest is calling on Winnipeggers to donate used grocery bags.

Used plastic motor oil containers can be recycled.  See where to bring your used motor oil containers.

 

Propane Tanks

Please contact “Tank Traders” at 204-736-8265 to exchange your old propane tank for a new one.

 

Empty propane tanks still have a small amount of explosive gas left in the cylinder. Therefore proper disposal is required.
