The Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs Climate Change: Planning for our Future conference was held at the Winnipeg Convention Centre on February 11 & 12, 2009. The conference aim was to provide information on what is occurring regionally and internationally from both an Indigenous and Western view.

Green Manitoba, as a part of the Department of Science, Technology, Energy, and Mines (STEM) helped in the presentation of Our Green Future: Manitoba’s Climate Change Action Plan. Please click on the image to view the presentation.

þ      Climate Change Connection is a hub for information about climate change in Manitoba.

We are managed by the Manitoba Eco-Network and are governed by a Steering Committee. The Steering Committee is co-chaired by the Manitoba Eco-Network and the University of Winnipeg.

Climate Change Connection provides "Healthy Communities Don't Idle" traffic signs free of charge to encourage the reduction of unnecessary greenhouse gas emissions.

Since 2002, Climate Change Connection has provided one-day workshops for 13 different communities across Manitoba. Representatives from a variety of relevant sectors were invited, including provincial, municipal and civic governments, agriculture, energy, health, education, industry and First Nations. Community Workshops on Climate Change have three objectives:

þ      Educate participants about climate change science, impacts, and solutions

þ      Engage participants to take action

þ      Support participants by providing the ideas, resources, and contacts to take action in their communities and to further educate others
